"I am constantly performing on stage. It is important to stay physically active. I am a grandmother but that doesn't mean that I will retire. I want to continue working. I want to help poor people. I don't want to sit back and do nothing. I want to be active all my life." "I hate it but I have to exercise for my mind more than anything and I’m 36 and have four children I need the energy exercise gives...Exercise is key for the mind and body." “Exercise is my medicine because it’s good for my cardio and it is good for my fibromyalgia and for a few other health problems. And it is good for my upper body strength. I like coming here to exercise as it relaxes me.” "I do a little running around each day—not a certain amount or time—but just to keep everything going.” "Hitting the gym gives me a place to clear my head, push myself, and stay strong. Growing up I was always full of energy but didn’t actually become dedicated to moving every day until about eight years ago. After feeling the difference exercise made in my life, I wanted to help others reap the benefits of moving too. I’m fortunate enough to be in a position where I get to make this difference first-hand on a daily basis with the population I love most: older adults. Between research experiences and teaching classes in CPAH, I’ve seen so many older adults progress not only in their health and fitness but also in their self-confidence and social connections. It’s incredible to see what older adults are capable of in the gym- lifting weights with smiles on their faces and outlasting me on planks more often than I’d like to admit. I started moving because it gave me a way to relieve my stress and boost my mood. It just so happened to also provide a platform for my career that’s only just beginning. Now, I want to keep moving so I age as successfully as the older adults that fuel my passion." "Movement through exercise, living healthy and well is my passion in life. It is equally important that I share this with theirs, so they too can enjoy a good quality of life." "It gives me discipline and a sense of work ethic...it keeps me physically fit...it builds my mental strength...it is a huge passion of mine..." "[to] feel good...get rid of jet lag...
